What a fab book this is.

It is the story of an American mother and her daughter who are tricked into visiting Iran by her Iranian husband under the pretence of a holiday. They are then forced to stay there and the story describes Betty's battle to get herself and her daughter home. It is one of the best books I have ever read.

Just wondered if anyone had read this and had any thoughts on it.

It is the story of a man whose young daughter is murdered and his subsequent "journey" with God trying to find answers.

Did Santa bring anyone new books?

I got the new James Patterson one ( Cross Country) which I am well into already..I love the Alex Cross books and this one is certainly one of the best.

I also got 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' which I am keen to read as I would like to watch the film.

What did you girls get?

It has been a long time since I posted here but it does not mean I am not still reading. This is the latest one I have read (quite by chance) after picking it up quickly in our local library as we rushed to leave..

I enjoyed it so much I went back for her "Year of Wonders".

I know it's only a children's book but I was disappointed with it.

Cathy Glass books

Has any one read any of Cathy Glass's books? ( Hidden, Cut and Damaged). They are not light hearted reading but once you pick them up you cannot put them down. I have read Cut and Damaged this week.

Cathy is a foster carer and writes about her experiences of caring for abused children. Like I say it is certainly not a light hearted theme but I highly reccomend them.

Hiya

I at my friends today and used her bathroom. Whilst in there I noticed a pile of books next to her loo! I asked her ( she is a good friend so its fine to say such things!) if she spends a lot of time in her bathroom given the pile of books!
She told me that the bathroom is the one place where she is guaranteed peace and quiet and so this is where she does most of her reading ( presumably she meant in the bath and not on the loo....oh yack I borrowed a book of her too....)...

I LOVE this book. i think its especially helpful to some of us because it deals witrh the main charachters mother who tried for yeasrs to have a baby andhere came the main charachter. the book itself its absolutely aweosme....just curious as well to know if anyone else has read this book if not though i DEFINITLY recommend it!

A million little pieces by James Frey

I have just finished this book and couldn't oput it down - its a true story about james's alchol and drug addiction and how he learns to overcome them - his follow up is my friend leonard which i am half way through which is also a great read

Read this the other day. Only time I get to read much is on the loo.....I had to spend ever such a lot of time in the smallest room for a few days. Didn't want to put it down. Well worth a read.

I love this ladys books as I can totally relate to them!

This title is another good one - based around the lives of 3 mums, their partners and the school headmaster! Easy reading and witty. Good for the likes of me who can not read more than 3 pages without interruption of sorts...

I got the Archers Handbook, very useful and the Cranford Chronicles from my dh after he noticed I'd watched the telly programmes, thoughtful eh?
Both are very good

I found this on another website but thought it was appropriate for all the mothers of angels not just mothers of premmie babies. It brought many tears for me.

I've just finished reading this book and wanted to tell everyone about it.

It is set in the 1950's and is about a young girl's coming of age and the choices we have to make in life.

I like books that make you think and therefore I don't normally 'do' chick-lit (I hated Bridget Jones' Diary for instance) , but this sounded very good, so thought I'd have a read. I also wanted a quick, easy read that I could fit in & around the house & kids.
