I had an ep 5 months ago. I am scared to death to try again but cannot stand the thought of not ever having a child. Please share with me your experiences after ep. I would like to know if others have been successful in conceiving after ep.
I am so sorry about your ectopic. I had an ectopic this time last year. It was the worst experience to have to go through. I was really nervous and scared about getting pregnant again. Well, I found out that I am pg again. I was so nervous about having another ectopic. I even had pain on my right side, the side I had the ectopic. I am thinking that I conceived this baby from the same side as where I had the ectopic?? The pain did go away, and I am almost 8wks. I have had no signs of having another ectopic. I would by now. They say it is only around 12% chance of having another. I don't know if you have had one or not, but an HSG(dye ran through your tubes) may put your mind at ease. I never did the HSG, but I was planning to when I started to ttc again. This baby was a total surprise. Good luck to you!! The only way to get over a fear is to face it.
Thank you so much for replying and congratulations. I hope I am as lucky as you. I take it you didn't lose your tube. Did they give you Methotrexate? That's what they gave me and luckily I avoided surgery. I am hopeful that will be a good thing as far as getting pregnant successfully next time. Thanks again!
hi im new to the net i just wanted to share with every one i to had an ectopic 6months ago and ihad my left tube taken out I ALSO had a miscarriage 1year ago and lost another baby nearly 3 years ago. JAY
Patkat, I had an ectopic 11 years ago, lost my whole right tube, but have gone on to have another 3 successful pregnancies since then. Good luck to you. Andrea xxxx
Hi, I had an ectopic for Christmas 2000. We saved my tube and in February of 2002 I gave birth to healthy twins. It can be done although I too was scared to death to try again. My ectopic resulted in a midnight lapropscopy to remove the embryo and filet my tube - the tube took forever to heal and I had several months of terrible pain associated with internal bleeding. I too had localized pain on the same side when I did finally conceive and was scared to death it was an indication of another ectopic. Good luck, its scary but it can be done! Shari
Hi, my name is Jenn and I have had 2 ectopic pregnancys in Jan04 and Jan05. I wanted to share my story with anyone who has had a ectopic and read some of your stories as well. The 1 time, well let's see I pretty much almost died, a few hours (2-3)and that would of been it. I had the smaller of the 2 operations with 3 cuts made and a horrible recovery, not to mention that I lost my left tube. The 2 time I knew something was wrong with my stomach(pains)so the Dr. was able to save the second tube, the pain from the "bikini " operatuon was the worst thing you can imagine, it has taken my a full 6 mo to recover. I have one son who is 7 and I can only wonder if I'll ever be able to have another baby..........This web-site is great, I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
I had a horrible ectopic pregnacy 2 months ago. 3 weeks after I lost one of my tubes I found out I was pregnant again. I am now 8 weeks. Yesterday I saw the heart beat and everything seems to be fine. Have hope, things really happen for a reason. T

Hi there all ,,, Nice to be here and see the support you are all giving eachother
I lost my right tube 18 years ago and suffer from adhesions ... I had a life saving operation when lossing twins..
One baby was in the womb with the copper 7 growing through it, and the other litle bern was in the tube,,
Needless to say they are both in higher places now, where angels reside. And I am alive... Some folk just did not and do not to this day see how much danger my life was in...
I have suffered with my cycle eversince and am now reaching the menopause! Not really having a good time physically. However coping gracefully....
Hope to chat more about these matters soon

I just had an ep 1 week ago. I had no symptoms and was totally devastated. I had emergency surgery at midnight to remove the pregnancy. Thankfully the tube was saved. I already have 2 beautiful daughters and long for more still. I am terrified to try again. I am having trouble coping and do not think I could handle going through this again.
I had an ep back in July and my doctor suggested we wait 2 months before trying again. Well, it is November and we are trying again! I too, am scared to death that another ep will occur, but I'm keeping the faith that this one will be successful. I had a pretty easy ep (not that any of them are). When I say easy I mean that I didn't have ANY pain whatsoever and I was able to be given the drug Methotrexate to dissolve the pregnancy without having surgery or having any of my tubes removed. I believe it happened this time because back in November 2005 I had surgery to remove some scar tissue that was blocking my right tube & fluid that was in my left. I believe that maybe there was a little scar tissue from the surgery. However, last month I had an HSG done to see if my tubes were clear and there was no sign of fluid and no blockage. Stay positive and have faith that you will get pregnant.
I just had an EP back in July of this year. I was very distraught and upset when I found out. Both my husband and I cried because we've been trying for 6 years! My doctor's suggested we wait a couple of month before ttc again. Well, it's November and we are trying again! I too, am nervous that this one will be another EP, however I'm trying to remain positive & have faith that it won't. My EP was a pretty easy one. When I say easy, I mean that I didn't have ANY pain whatsoever (except cramping), I was fortunate enough not to have to have surgery thus saving both my tubes. The doctor gave me a shot of the drug Methotrexate to dissolve the pregnancy. I had over a month of bleeding and several weeks of cramping which was very inconvenient & irritating & uncomfortable seeing that I couldn't wear tampons & I haven't worn pads since H.S. I believe this may have happened (& the doctor's said the same) due to surgery I had back in Nov '05 to remove scar tissue that was blocking my right tube & fluid that was filled in my left. Shortly after my EP, my doctor suggested I have an HSG done to see if my tubes were still clear.....and they are. No signs of blockage or fluid filled tubes which is great news! He said there could've been just a little scar tissue in my tube from the surgery (which sometimes happened) and the embryo might have just gotten "stuck" and wasn't able to make its way into my uterus. I'm trying to stay positive & hopeful that this time around we will have a succesful pregnancy. Have faith & stay positive!
I had My first child when I was 17, My beautiful baby girl, Alexia!!! When I was 20 My boyfriend and I had just split and 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant again and was excited but really scared. I Knew something was not right from the pain and bleeding. I went to to the doctor and they found that i had a ep.(this was May 2006) It was located in my right tube. They rushed me in for emergency surgery. I had the Laproscopy surgery done. They were able to salvage my right tube. Although when he tried to figure out why it happened he found nothing, No scar tissue no evident reason for this to happen. maybe gods way of saying i wasnt ready. I dont know. In the past few weeks we have decided to try to have another. I am very precautious and trying to do everything right! Oh yeah and during my operation i found that I have 3 ovaries!! Maybe a good thing! Hopefully.... My boyfriend and I are very excited about trying and are some what impatient! Our daughter is a sheer joy to the both of us and we can not wait to have another. any advice or feedback would be great!! Good luck to everyone!
Hey everyone. I just registered to this site today. My best friend told me about. She finds it very helpful for herself and she told me to check it out so here I am!
I had an ep 2 weeks ago. I had a rupture and was bleeding into my stomach for about 3-4 days. The Dr. said that there was 700 ml of blood. I lost a part of my right tube. I really thought I was constipated bad. I had no spotting and I just felt bloated and needed to have a good bowel movement. A friend of mine convinced me to go to the hospital which the Dr. said that I was very lucky I did cause he said I would not have been around come morning for sure. Very scary. I mean you hear of stuff like this happening, but it's always to other people and you're the one feeling bad for them and what not. Just weird. I'm recovering well. Just found out that a friend of mine is now pregnant. I'm super happy for her but I couldn't wait to leave her house so I could go home and have a good cry. I have a wonderful boyfriend. He's so supportive and loving. We are going to try again after Christmas. I'm nervous, but I'm going to try and stay positive that this one will be successful!
I have just had a ep 3 weeks ago and so glad i found this site.I lost my right tube after a scary lap.Suffered massive blood loss and spent 8 hours in surgery.Im so scared to try again and no one really telling us when to start again?I hope we can all take support from each other. Sent with all my love xx
Like many here, I to had midnight surgery after my body tried unsuccessfully to have a miscarriage. My right tube had ruptured badly, and was unsalvageable. The additional news of the left tube looking really scarred was another shocking blow. This was my first pregnancy. My heart goes out to all of you. Hopefully I will still be able to have children naturally. Waiting for my checkup. Will definitely be going in for an HSG to ensure that I have ruled out any strong possibilities of another EP. The best thing I have found is to know as much as you can about what is going on. Then it won't feel as scary as it can with the little information you get.
I had an ectopic in december 2006 which i managed to keep my tube and the pregnancy was milked out, unfortunetely i had a miscarriage 2 months prior. I have a 4 year old son which i am thankful for but desperetely want a baby with my new partner, we are trying but i am so worried that i could have another ectopic ,and with more risk because of possible scarring to my tube. many people do not realise that it is life threatening condition and that is what i worry about if it happens again maybe i should be thankful for the one i have and think maybe its god trying to me something.
